Life's a cupcake...

Life's a cupcake and I ate 2 tonight! It's that season and the ordering are rolling in and the icing is on the table - I couldn't resist the sweet buttercream icing on a double chocolate cupcake. Good thing I logged 5 miles Saturday morning in under 47 minutes!

It's back to the gym tomorrow night to run, lift weights and sweat it out!

Next time, I'll remember this picture…maybe

Strawberry Chicken Spinach Salad

I'm exhausted…My ass hurts and my legs ache! I weighed in at 126.6lbs. I've been working out for a while, but I'm not use to the weights. I used 30lbs. instead of 35lbs for the push jerks.  Now I'm ready for a delicious healthy dinner thanks to the George Foreman :)

Strawberry Chicken Spinach Salad
Baby Spinach
Grilled Chicken
Strawberries
Sliced Almonds
Fine shredded Italian Cheese
Fat Free Raspberry Vinaigrette

YUM!

We used a Fat Free Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing by Maple Grove Farms. It's delicious, but I wish the bottle was a little bigger to get a few more uses out of. Nutritional facts are below. Enjoy!

WORKOUT 12-4-12

TUESDAY WORKOUT

I'm taking a mix of CrossFit's WOD (Workout Of The Day) and applying a few additional tweeks:

The CrossFit WOD
Five rounds for time of:
50 Double-unders Regular Jump Rope
185 35 pound Push jerk, 10 reps
Rest 1 minute

I just learned that a Double Under is a exercise done on a jump rope in which the rope makes two passes per jump instead of just one. Since I am starting out, I'll scratch the double unders for regular jumps.

A Push Jerk is a progression of the push press in which a forceful hip drive coupled with a drop under the bar--a catch--is used to aid in getting the load overhead. I think I'll start at around 35lbs. (Let's not fool myself to think I could push 185lbs.)

I'm also going to add some abs (Always makes me feel good)
100 Crunches (4 reps of 25)
Ab Planks (3 reps, 20 seconds/rep)

And, of course I have to get my cardio in:
2 mile run on the treadmill (Goal 20 minutes)

I have about 2 hours until I hit the gym...post soon!

No More Cupcakes!

I'm a true competitor at heart, therefore I've started this blog to challenge and better myself. I recently came across a quote that states, "I never compete against the competition. The only one I compete against is myself, because one day I will beat the competition and then who will I compete against?" I've trained, challenged my body and tried to compete against others, but I came to the conclusion that I am not in competition with anybody but myself.             My true goal is to beat my last performance.

I'm going to start posting my daily workout routines, meal plans, grocery lists, upcoming races, playlists, nutrition facts and anything else I feel that would be beneficial to someone like me starting to live an active healthy lifestyle. I'm going to stop complaining about the things I don't like and take action to fix them!

My biggest challenge is the fact that I live and breathe cupcakes and cake pops everyday as my fiance is the proud owner of PauliPoPs, Cupcakes & More. We have enough sugar in our house to last the whole year. It's my responsibility to say no and walk away from this scrumptious little treats and I know it's going to be really hard because sweets are my weakness. If I take a whiff of chocolate chip cookies, I'm usually by the oven with a glass of milk waiting for them to come out golden brown. My challenge starts today!
